If you are an Apple Mac user, welcome! As a very intelligent person (wink), you can skip today’s blog.
But if you’re a Windows 10 user, keep reading.
Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025.
What does that mean?
After that date, you will no longer get free security updates. (Or bug fixes. Or general support. But let’s focus on the security updates.)
Why should you care?
Because when bad actors find a vulnerability in Windows 10 after October 14 — and they will — they’ll have free rein to attack your computer.
What should you do?
Best option: Upgrade to Windows 11 before October 14.
Alternate option: Pay $30 for Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, which buys you one more year of critical security updates (but no bug fixes or technical support).
Weird option: Enable Windows settings sync via your Microsoft account or redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points. (Don’t ask me. I don’t want to know.)
Andy’s tongue-in-cheek advice: Switch to a Mac.
Why might the $30 ESU be worth it?
If your PC can’t run Windows 11 or you need extra time before upgrading, that $30 is like buying a security shield for one more year. It won’t fix problems or add features, but it will keep the most dangerous vulnerabilities from leaving your computer wide open. Think of it as paying for a lock on your front door until you can replace it.
My Advice:
🚨 Windows 10 support ends October 14, 2025.
Upgrade to Windows 11 or pay $30 for one more year of security updates.
After that, your PC will be unprotected against new threats.

One last thing: If you know friends or family still running Windows 10, pass this along. Many casual users won’t realize the deadline is coming. No one wants to be the person who got hacked simply because they missed a calendar date.
Still confused? Ask your friendly neighborhood tech guru. (Just don’t ask me — I'm all Mac says Andy with an air of superiority.)
